STORY
The disappearing sparrow
I was once a happy bird who could make her nests inside the homes of people. Most were friendly to me. I loved finding nooks and crannies inside rafters of roofs and hubs of fans for my nests. I was everywhere. But slowly, the pesticides used in foods did not suit me and my kin. Many of my friends, brothers and sisters died. People started building more apartments and it was hard for us to find spaces to build our nests. The vibrations from the towers of cell phones also created major hazards that have changed the patterns of our lives.
The Government of Bihar has made me the State Bird so that you remember to save me when you can. You can be the sparrow’s friend and help us to survive. Find out how at the Bihar Museum’s Children’s Gallery!
